The ideal candidate should have an active California Bar membership and a minimum of 2 years of experience in public entity representation, along with a deep understanding of California's legal landscape. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing legal guidance to public agencies, elected or nonprofit volunteer Boards, and local governments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to public entities in matters related to Education Law, including special education, student rights, governance, and policy.

  • Collaborate with elected officials and nonprofit volunteer Boards to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Conduct legal research, analyze complex legal issues, and provide well-reasoned legal opinions to clients.

  • Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies, to protect the interests of public entities.

  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, negotiations, and court proceedings as necessary.

  • Offer guidance and counsel to clients on matters related to litigation risk assessment, dispute resolution, and conflict management.

  • Keep abreast of changes in relevant laws and regulations to provide clients with up-to-date legal advice and strategies.

  • Maintain strong client relationships, providing clear and timely communication and ensuring client satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in public entity representation, with a focus on Education Law.

  • Knowledge of California's legal framework, regulations, and policies pertaining to public agencies and education.

  • Familiarity with local government operations and the unique challenges they face.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • California Bar license.

  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.

  • Exceptional legal writing skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Effective client counseling skills.
