Job Overview:

A highly respected law firm is seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join its Mergers & Acquisitions Clearance Team. This position focuses on regulatory antitrust matters, particularly related to compliance with the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Antitrust Improvements Act and international merger control. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to complex corporate transactions in collaboration with antitrust, corporate, and private equity teams. This is a non-litigation role ideal for attorneys with early career experience in antitrust and M&A regulatory compliance.

Location:

  • New York, NY

Duties:

  • Assess HSR reportability for corporate transactions

  • Prepare and manage the submission of HSR filings

  • Coordinate closely with clients, corporate counsel, and opposing counsel

  • Collaborate with European legal teams on global merger control compliance

  • Support antitrust, corporate, and private equity deal teams

  • Contribute to the analysis of competitor transactions from an antitrust perspective

  • Assist with Second Request responses and general antitrust counseling

  • Participate in ongoing training provided by senior team members and partners

Requirements:

  • 1–4 years of experience in antitrust or competition-related M&A clearance

  • Familiarity with the HSR Act and merger control processes

  • Experience in regulatory/corporate M&A or with private equity clients (preferred)

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively across teams

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the bar of at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Strong legal drafting and communication skills

  • Proficiency in antitrust regulatory frameworks and compliance procedures

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities

  • Comfort managing high-stakes and time-sensitive filings
