Real Estate Finance Associate

Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Real Estate Finance Associate Attorney with 3–6 years of experience to join its Charlotte, NC office. The position involves serving as lead or senior counsel on complex commercial real estate finance transactions, with a focus on lender representation in mortgage, mezzanine, and construction loan originations. This role also offers exposure to securitization, syndication, and distressed debt matters, including workouts and foreclosure proceedings.

Location:

• Charlotte, North Carolina

Duties:

• Represent regulated and non-regulated lenders, including banks, insurance companies, and debt funds

• Serve in a senior role managing the origination of mortgage, mezzanine, and construction loans

• Advise clients on loan securitization and syndication transactions

• Conduct legal due diligence, including title, survey, lease, and property reviews

• Provide counsel on distressed debt matters such as workouts, restructuring, and foreclosure

• Draft and negotiate complex financing documentation

• Collaborate with clients, co-counsel, and counterparties throughout transaction lifecycle

Requirements:

• 3–6 years of experience in commercial real estate finance law

• Demonstrated experience in lender-side representation

• Familiarity with distressed asset scenarios, including remedies and enforcement actions

• Prior leadership or senior associate responsibilities within transactions

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in North Carolina or ability to gain admission promptly

Skills:

• Advanced legal drafting and negotiation skills

• Strong project management and leadership capabilities

• Proficiency in analyzing and resolving complex real estate finance issues

• Effective communication and client advisory skills

• Ability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven workload
