Job Overview: A law firm seeks a highly skilled Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with 2-6 years of legal experience. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in intellectual property law, specifically in drafting and patent prosecution, with a focus on computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields. Experience in design engineering, particularly with a chip company, is advantageous. Candidates with expertise in networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or similar technologies are preferred. Admission to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required, and bar licensure in California is a plus.

Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution activities, including drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Analyze patentability, perform patent searches, and provide opinions on patent validity and infringement.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their inventions and develop patent strategies.
  • Communicate with USPTO examiners to advocate for clients' patent applications.
  • Manage patent portfolios and provide strategic guidance to clients regarding patent matters.
  • Stay updated on developments in intellectual property law and relevant technologies.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of legal experience.
  • Experience in intellectual property law, particularly in drafting and patent prosecution.
  • Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or similar field.
  • Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus.
  • Familiarity with networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or related technologies preferred.
  • Admission to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
  • Bar licensure in California is advantageous.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
  • Bar licensure in California is a plus.
