A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Data Privacy Associate Attorney with at least 4 years of consumer and employee privacy experience. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in legal advice and counsel, managing data privacy compliance projects, drafting privacy policies, and responding to data subject requests. Candidates with the IAPP's Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) designation are preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel on data privacy compliance projects.
  • Draft privacy policies and notices for clients.
  • Draft or advise on data protection agreements.
  • Conduct data mapping exercises to identify data flows and potential risks.
  • Advise on consumer consent workflows and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Address technical website/app and digital marketing issues, including cookies, pixels, targeted ads, and global privacy controls.
  • Assist clients in conducting data protection impact assessments.
  • Respond to data subject requests in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Handle data breach and incident response and reporting.
  • Represent clients in consumer privacy litigation and regulatory enforcement actions.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in Washington, DC, or eligibility for admission.
  • At least 4 years of consumer and employee privacy experience.
  • Experience in data breach and incident response and reporting preferred.
  • Familiarity with consumer privacy litigation and regulatory enforcement actions preferred.
  • IAPP's Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) designation preferred.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

IAPP's Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) designation preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting policies, agreements, and legal memoranda.
