A law firm in Durham is seeking a Junior-Mid Level Benefits Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience in private practice. The ideal candidate will have experience with qualified retirement plans, health & welfare plans, and executive & deferred compensation arrangements. Additionally, supporting benefits and compensation in M&A, ERISA litigation, and withdrawal liability experience is a plus. The Junior-Mid Level Benefits Associate Attorney must be detail-oriented and possess excellent writing, oral advocacy, communication, and legal analysis skills. They should have a J.D. from an ABA accredited law school, excellent academic credentials, and exceptional interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys, and staff.

 

Duties:

  • Work on matters related to qualified retirement plans, health & welfare plans, and executive & deferred compensation arrangements
  • Support benefits and compensation in M&A transactions
  • Handle ERISA litigation and withdrawal liability matters (preferred)
  • Provide detailed-oriented legal analysis
  • Draft legal documents and correspondence
  • Conduct legal research
  • Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and staff

 

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of benefits experience in private practice
  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
  • Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction
