A law firm is seeking a Lateral Business Restructuring and Reorganization Associate Attorney for their Washington, D.C. office with, requirements, education, certifications, and skills.

 

Job Overview:

The Lateral Business Restructuring and Reorganization Associate Attorney will handle a mix of creditor, debtor, and distressed acquisition work. Responsibilities include representing hedge funds, CLOs, private equity funds, and other financial institutions in both chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings, as well as representing debtors in high-profile chapter 11 cases, including cross-border cases, and out-of-court restructurings.

 

Duties:

  • Serve as counsel for creditor, debtor, and distressed acquisition matters.
  • Represent hedge funds, CLOs, private equity funds, and financial institutions in chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings.
  • Handle high-profile chapter 11 cases, including cross-border cases, and out-of-court restructurings for debtors.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and provide analytical support.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior associates on case strategy and management.
  • Maintain client relationships and provide high-quality legal services.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience in business restructuring and reorganization.
  • Experience in representing creditors and debtors in chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of bankruptcy and restructuring laws.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in cross-border restructuring matters is a plus.
