Environmental Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Denver, CO, seeks a junior to mid-level attorney to join its environmental and energy legal team. This opportunity is ideal for professionals eager to practice environmental regulations, administrative law, and natural resources governance. The role emphasizes regulatory counseling with exposure to litigation and transactional support involving environmental compliance, permitting, and enforcement matters.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on federal and state environmental regulations and compliance strategies

  • Support permitting and administrative processes involving environmental and energy-related projects

  • Assist with matters concerning hazardous and solid waste management, air and water quality, remediation, and resource development

  • Draft and review memoranda, regulatory filings, and technical legal correspondence

  • Engage in agency negotiations and administrative hearings

  • Contribute to environmental litigation, including legal research, motion practice, and discovery

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex environmental and energy matters

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in environmental, administrative, natural resources, or energy law

  • Demonstrated interest in environmental regulatory work if prior experience is limited

  • Familiarity with federal and state statutes related to environmental protection and resource development

  • Strong research, analytical, and writing abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines under minimal supervision

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Colorado or eligibility for waiver preferred)

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of environmental statutory frameworks and administrative procedures

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication

  • The capacity to build strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders

  • High level of initiative and attention to detail

  • Proficiency in managing case files and regulatory documentation
