Job Overview:

A prominent global law firm is actively seeking a Senior Associate or Counsel-level attorney with significant experience in financial services regulation, specifically relating to commodities, derivatives, and CFTC matters. This opportunity offers the chance to join a collaborative and market-leading team advising major clients in both the financial and energy sectors. Candidates will be expected to contribute meaningfully to complex regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Location:

  • Denver, CO

Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with the Commodity Exchange Act and related CFTC regulations

  • Provide guidance on swaps and derivatives trading, documentation, and negotiation

  • Assist with regulatory and enforcement matters concerning commodity and energy markets

  • Draft and negotiate relevant documentation and regulatory disclosures

  • Collaborate across practice areas and jurisdictions within the firm

  • Provide strategic regulatory advice to clients acting as dealers, traders, and end users

Requirements:

  • 5–10 years of experience in financial services regulation

  • Substantial experience in CFTC-related matters, swaps, and derivatives law

  • Demonstrated knowledge of trading market rules and regulatory structures

  • Background advising clients in the financial and/or energy sectors

  • Ability to work collaboratively on high-impact, multi-jurisdictional matters

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Member in good standing with relevant State Bar

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of U.S. financial regulatory frameworks

  • Experience negotiating complex transactional and compliance documents

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Effective team player with a client-oriented mindset

  • Ability to manage large, complex projects independently
