Job Title: ECVC Attorney - Income Principal

Job Overview:

A distinguished law firm located in Washington, DC, seeks an accomplished ECVC Attorney at the Principal level. This position offers a dynamic bi-coastal platform designed to foster business growth and support a wide range of corporate clientele. The role emphasizes close partnership with entrepreneurial ventures, early-stage companies, and investors, while also leading complex transactions across diverse industry sectors. The environment encourages collaboration with skilled professionals from multiple office locations and values meaningful contributions to both client development and community service initiatives.

Duties:

  • Advise startup and emerging growth companies on corporate governance, fundraising strategies, and day-to-day legal needs.

  • Structure and lead private offerings, debt, and equity financings involving angel investors, venture capital firms, syndicates, and banks.

  • Counsel clients on business expansion strategies and sophisticated transaction management across various industries.

  • Support and expand an existing client base by leveraging a full-service, multi-jurisdictional platform.

  • Collaborate regularly with attorneys across multiple offices on cross-disciplinary matters.

  • Engage in public service and pro bono activities as part of the firm's commitment to social responsibility.

  • Contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that enhance workplace culture and client service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience representing emerging brands in capital raise transactions, including private offerings and diverse financing methods.

  • Demonstrated partial portable book of business.

  • Strong background in traditional corporate governance and counseling.

  • Additional exposure to public company advisory, capital markets, securities, mergers, and acquisitions is highly desirable.

  • Proven track record managing multiple transactions independently and in team settings.

  • Exceptional communication and client-relations skills.

  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and handle a broad array of matters simultaneously.

  • Commitment to professional responsiveness and high-quality service delivery.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law and active good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills:

  • Outstanding analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong business development capabilities.

  • Detail-oriented work habits coupled with robust organizational abilities.

  • Adaptability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.

Job Location:

  • Washington, DC

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance offerings.

  • Employer-supported 401(k) retirement savings plan.

  • Disability and life insurance coverage.

  • Paid parental leave.

  • Transportation and commuter benefits.

  • Credit for billable hours dedicated to approved pro bono and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

  • Eligibility for annual performance-based bonuses.

  • Professional development support, mentorship programs, and access to firmwide resources.

This small office of a solid Northwest firm is not in growth mode--but they aren't afraid to scoop up talented lawyers from their neighbors when the opportunity arises. They concentrate their full service efforts on a clientele that may not be dominating the Fortune 500, but do give this firm an interesting range of work. This firm is at its best when handling corporate work for small or mid-sized companies, with an occasional IPO here and there.
