A law firm in Los Angeles is seeking a qualified Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent with a strong academic background, substantial law firm or industry experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering, with other engineering disciplines considered if accompanied by significant patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required for this position.

 

Duties:

  • Conducting patent searches, analyzing prior art, and providing guidance on patentability.
  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to medical devices and mechanical engineering.
  • Collaborating with inventors, attorneys, and clients to gather necessary information for patent filings.
  • Analyzing and responding to office actions from the USPTO and other patent offices.
  • Conducting due diligence and freedom-to-operate analyses.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Admission to the USPTO.
  • Strong academic achievement.

 

Education:

Bachelor's or higher degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
