Job Title: Tax Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm based in San Francisco, CA, is actively seeking a seasoned Tax Attorney to support its growing client portfolio, which includes entrepreneurs, early-stage ventures, and global corporations. This opportunity involves delivering tailored tax solutions for complex domestic and international matters. The role offers a hybrid/remote setup with the expectation of availability during Pacific Time business hours. The successful candidate will play a key role in structuring corporate transactions, ensuring tax compliance, and collaborating across legal disciplines to advise on strategic business decisions.

Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice on federal, state, and international tax issues

  • Structure domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions

  • Draft and review contracts with a focus on tax implications

  • Offer counsel on global tax compliance and planning strategies

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting client operations

  • Conduct detailed tax research and analysis to support legal positions

  • Collaborate with corporate teams on due diligence and deal execution

  • Support clients in tax filings and regulatory compliance

  • Build long-term relationships with clients, delivering high-level legal guidance

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience practicing tax law with a focus on corporate and international matters

  • Active license to practice law in California, Texas, or New York

  • Demonstrated expertise advising on transactional tax planning and compliance

  • Familiarity with U.S. federal and state tax regulations and international tax frameworks

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client matters simultaneously

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation (required)

Certifications:

  • State Bar membership in CA, TX, or NY (active and in good standing)

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and legal research capabilities

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • High attention to detail and professional judgment

  • Experience working under deadlines and managing priorities independently

  • Background in accounting or finance (preferred)

  • Proactive mindset with the ability to identify practical and innovative tax strategies
