A law firm in Newport Beach, CA, is seeking a Trial Lawyer with 7-15 years of litigation experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing complex cases and providing strategic legal counsel. The role involves preparing, reviewing, and filing legal documents, offering legal advice, representing clients in court, and settling cases out of court.

 

Job Details:

  • Prepare, review, and file legal complaints, discovery, and other pleadings and legal documents.
  • Settle cases out of court on behalf of clients.
  • Manage all phases of litigation, from initial investigation to trial, settlement, and appeal processes.
  • Provide legal support and guidance to clients and other firm members.
  • Communicate with clients to understand legal concerns and needs.
  • Strategize on resolving clients' cases in a favorable and cost-effective manner.
  • Develop compelling arguments in civil proceedings.
  • Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, depositions, and discovery in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in and manage depositions.
  • Manage pre-trial tasks, including client consultations, expert witness retention, pre-trial conferences, and trial strategy development.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with clients.
  • Follow guidance from senior firm members on optimal strategy, actions, and procedures.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
  • Juris Doctor degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
  • 7-15 years of litigation experience, demonstrating expertise in civil trials and court proceedings.
  • Possess strong research and analytical skills to gather and examine data in support of clients' cases.
  • Knowledge of attorney-client relationships applicable to major duties and responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with computerized information and database record-keeping systems.
  • Proficiency in personal computer applications, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of Westlaw (preferred) or other computerized legal research systems.
