A law firm in Richmond, VA, is seeking a skilled Litigation Managing Attorney with 5+ years of experience in personal injury litigation and significant trial experience. The candidate will be responsible for representing personal injury clients through all phases of litigation and managing all aspects of case files from initiation to resolution.

 

Duties:

  • Initiate assistance to help clients find justice and compensation for their injuries.
  • Handle personal injury case files from start to finish, managing all phases of litigation.
  • Review incident summaries and files upon case assignment to assess for serious injury.
  • Assess the value of all cases within 30 days.
  • Conduct monthly file reviews.
  • Draft, review, and modify legal documents including claims, motions, discovery responses, demand letters, pleadings, and subpoenas.
  • Meet all pre-litigation and litigation filing deadlines.
  • Respond to client phone calls and correspondence within 48 hours.
  • Communicate with clients, expert witnesses, insurance adjusters, supporting witnesses, and medical providers to gather information.
  • Negotiate suitable agreements and settle cases on behalf of clients.
  • Review all liens and expenses prior to settlement disbursement.
  • Represent clients at hearings, trials, mediations, depositions, and other litigation proceedings.
  • Assume any additional duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Membership in the State Bar Association and a state license to practice law is mandatory.
  • Licensed to practice in Federal Court.
  • 5+ years of experience in personal injury litigation plus significant trial experience.
  • Trial experience in medical malpractice, wrongful death, or other civil litigation practice areas is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word).
  • Knowledge and experience with other relevant forms of data technology software.
  • Ability to pass a background check and other pre-employment screenings.

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

  • Membership in the State Bar Association and a state license to practice law is mandatory.
  • Licensed to practice in Federal Court.

 

Skills:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills with clients, courts, insurance providers, and firm employees.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, personal injury law, wrongful death, and medical malpractice.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Strong negotiation skills and trial experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software.
