A law firm in Los Angeles is seeking a qualified and experienced Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, possess substantial law firm, engineering, or industry experience, and exhibit excellent writing and communication skills. The candidate must hold a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering, with consideration given to other engineering disciplines coupled with significant patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is a prerequisite for this role.

Duties:

• Conducting patent searches and analyzing prior art to assess patentability.
• Drafting patent applications related to medical devices and mechanical engineering.
• Prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO and providing responses to office actions.
• Collaborating with inventors, attorneys, and clients to gather necessary information for patent applications.
• Conducting legal research and analysis to support patent prosecution efforts.

Requirements:

• A degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.
• Admission to the USPTO is mandatory.
• 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• The solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience.
• Exceptional writing and communication skills.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
