A law firm in Houston, TX, seeks an Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of experience. The role involves counseling and administrative litigation covering market-based rates, market design, generation interconnection, transmission issues, compliance, and enforcement matters before FERC, the CFTC, and various exchanges. Transactional support for energy M&A and financing transactions is also part of the practice. Experience with these matters is a plus.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation on energy regulatory matters, including market-based rates, market design, generation interconnection, and transmission issues.
  • Handle administrative litigation before regulatory bodies such as FERC, the CFTC, and various exchanges.
  • Assist with compliance and enforcement matters, including investigations, audits, and regulatory compliance work.
  • Provide transactional support for energy-related mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions.
  • Conduct legal research, analysis, and drafting of legal documents related to energy regulatory issues.
  • Collaborate with clients, partners, and other stakeholders to develop strategies and solutions to complex regulatory challenges.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in energy regulatory law.
  • Knowledge of energy industry regulations, including FERC and CFTC regulations.
  • Experience with administrative litigation and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar in Texas or eligibility for admission.
