Job Title: Environmental Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm based in Gulfport, MS, is currently seeking an Environmental Associate Attorney through La law Firm’s recruitment team. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse environmental matters across regulatory compliance, litigation support, and environmental transactions. The ideal candidate brings both legal acumen and a proactive, detail-oriented approach to environmental legal issues within a dynamic, collaborative team.

Duties:

  • Assist in representing clients in environmental regulatory compliance matters before state and federal agencies

  • Support litigation involving environmental disputes, including permitting, enforcement, and remediation issues

  • Draft and review environmental provisions in commercial transactions and contracts

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda related to environmental statutes and regulations

  • Provide analysis and strategic advice to clients on environmental risks and developments

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys in complex multi-jurisdictional matters

  • Monitor changes in environmental laws and assess their impact on client operations

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of focused experience in environmental law, including regulatory, litigation, or transactional areas

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced legal environment

  • Familiarity with state and federal environmental statutes such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, CERCLA, etc.

  • Detail-oriented with strong legal analysis and critical thinking skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Academic performance in the top 25% of the graduating class is preferred

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Must be eligible for admission to the Mississippi Bar if not already licensed

Skills:

  • Excellent research and persuasive legal writing abilities

  • Strong oral communication and client interaction skills

  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team structure

  • Proficiency with legal research platforms and tools
