A law firm in Parsippany is seeking a Senior Patent Litigation Associate Attorney / Special Counsel with 6+ years of law firm experience. The successful candidate will handle all aspects of patent litigation in federal district courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Additionally, they will supervise and provide guidance to patent agents in prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The Patent Litigation Senior Associate Attorney / Special Counsel will collaborate with partners and clients to develop litigation strategies while also managing the practical aspects of litigation, such as conducting discovery, drafting motions, and preparing expert witnesses. This role requires a strong command of relevant rules related to federal patent litigation, PTAB proceedings, and patent examination.

 

Duties:

  • Handle all aspects of patent litigation in federal district courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
  • Manage proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB)
  • Supervise and guide patent agents in prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO
  • Collaborate with partners and clients to develop litigation strategies
  • Conduct discovery, including depositions and document review
  • Prepare expert witnesses for testimony
  • Draft motions and other legal documents

 

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of law firm experience
  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar (or admission in a resident state if outside NJ)
  • Admission to practice before the USPTO and the PTAB

 

Education and Certifications:

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred)

 

Skills:

  • Strong command of relevant rules related to federal patent litigation, PTAB proceedings, and patent examination
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with partners and clients
  • Proficiency in supervising and guiding patent agents
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
