Job Overview:

The Mid-Level Nonprofit Organizations Associate Attorney will provide comprehensive legal services to nonprofit organizations, focusing on entity formation, corporate governance, tax exemption matters, fundraising regulation, political activities compliance, and general business law needs. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in working with various nonprofit designations, including 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and 501(c)(6), alongside proficiency in campaign finance, election laws, and lobbying registration and disclosure laws.

Duties:

  • Handle all aspects of nonprofit organization legal matters, including entity formation, corporate governance, and federal/state tax exemption matters.
  • Provide guidance and support regarding fundraising regulation and compliance with political activities.
  • Draft and review contracts, ensuring legal compliance and protection of client interests.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support client needs and case strategies.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, providing timely updates and legal advice.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, hearings, and other legal proceedings as necessary.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on complex legal matters and projects.
  • Stay updated on relevant legal developments, regulations, and industry trends.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in legal matters for nonprofit organizations.
  • Proficient in the full spectrum of legal issues for nonprofit organizations.
  • Strong understanding of 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and 501(c)(6) organizations.
  • Familiarity with campaign finance, election laws, and lobbying registration and disclosure laws.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Outstanding academic record and juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to and in good standing with the D.C. Bar.
  • Submission of law school transcripts with application.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the D.C. Bar.
