Job Overview:

The Associate Attorney will be responsible for managing eviction cases under the guidance of the Managing Partner of Evictions. This role entails handling all aspects of eviction cases, including court hearings, documentation preparation, client communication, and maintaining case schedules. The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of experience in eviction or general litigation.

 

Duties:

  • Report directly to the Managing Partner of Evictions and work alongside evictions support staff.
  • Handle all aspects of eviction cases from start to finish, from cradle to grave.
  • Timely complete tasks and steps assigned in the internal case management system.
  • Attend court hearings on eviction cases, either in person or remotely.
  • Independently maintain schedule of hearings and court deadlines.
  • Prepare and review documentation required for eviction cases, including pleadings and letters.
  • Sign pleadings, sometimes before a notary public, for filing in eviction cases.
  • Regularly update clients and provide legal advice as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, judges, and other parties involved in eviction cases.
  • Update and maintain both clients’ and the firm’s internal case management systems.
  • Experience in evictions or other default-related litigation is preferred.

 

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in eviction or general litigation.
  • Membership in the State Bar of Mississippi as a licensed attorney in good standing is required.
  • Additional membership in the State Bars of Georgia, Alabama, or Texas is preferred.

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Mississippi in good standing.
