Mid-level Patent Agent

A law firm in New York City is seeking a highly qualified Mid-level Patent Agent with a strong academic background, substantial law firm or industry experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in electrical engineering or computer science and possess expertise in patent prosecution, particularly in electrical engineering or software-related technologies. Preferred experience includes proficiency in data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), and machine learning/artificial intelligence with a focus on hardware security. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required for this role.

Duties:

• Conduct patent preparation and prosecution in the areas of electrical engineering, software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies (with an emphasis on network security), and machine learning/artificial intelligence (with a focus on hardware security).
• Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and other professionals to draft and prosecute patent applications.
• Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and provide opinions.
• Stay abreast of industry developments, legal trends, and changes in patent law.

Requirements:

• Bachelor or advanced degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
• Admission to the USPTO is mandatory.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.

Preferred Experience:

• Proficiency in patent prosecution within electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
• Experience in data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), and machine learning/artificial intelligence (with a focus on hardware security).
