Tax Attorney

A law firm in Wilmington is seeking an experienced Tax Attorney with a focus on tax and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, multistate tax issues, federal, state, and local tax controversies, global transactions, restructurings, private equity, and venture capital. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in due diligence reviews, federal and state tax incentives, technical research, tax return compliance, and employee benefits. This role requires representation of public and private organizations with local, national, and multinational operations.

Duties:

• Handle tax and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, multistate tax issues, and federal, state, and local tax controversies.
• Provide expertise in global transactions, restructurings, private equity, and venture capital.
• Conduct due diligence reviews and advise on federal and state tax incentives.
• Perform technical research and ensure tax return compliance.
• Offer guidance on employee benefits related to tax matters.
• Represent public and private organizations with local, national, and multinational operations.
• Build and maintain a practice around tax matters.

Requirements:

• 7-10 years of experience in a law firm or clerkship setting.
• Prior experience in a law firm environment is preferred.
• Admitted to practice in the state.
• Excellent academic background.
• Strong writing and analytical skills.
• Extensive experience in tax and transactional matters.
• Proven track record in mergers and acquisitions, multistate tax issues, and federal, state, and local tax controversies.
• Familiarity with global transactions, restructurings, private equity, and venture capital.
• Knowledge of due diligence reviews, federal and state tax incentives, technical research, tax return compliance, and employee benefits.

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

Admission to practice law in the state.
