A law firm seeks a dedicated Criminal Defense Associate Attorney to manage a caseload in State and Federal Court, providing comprehensive legal representation to clients facing criminal charges. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling cases from inception through trial, demonstrating proficiency in legal research, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy.

Duties:

  • Handle criminal defense cases, including misdemeanors and felonies, from initiation to trial
  • Efficiently prepare and manage each case, ensuring timely progress and adherence to legal procedures
  • Advise and counsel clients, establishing and maintaining professional relationships throughout the legal process
  • Represent clients at arraignments, hearings, and court trials, advocating for their interests
  • Effectively utilize investigators, mitigation specialists, placement specialists, and support staff to support case strategies
  • Seek assistance from experts as needed, demonstrating sound judgment to achieve desired results
  • Conduct legal research and draft various legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and briefs
  • Negotiate plea bargains and settlements with prosecutors, advocating for favorable outcomes for clients
  • Attend court hearings and trials, presenting compelling arguments on behalf of clients
  • Provide ongoing legal advice and guidance to clients, ensuring their understanding of the legal process
  • Stay informed about changes in criminal law and legal precedents to enhance legal strategies
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff to deliver optimal legal representation to clients

Requirements:

  • 1-6 years of experience in criminal law in Florida State Court
  • Familiarity with various legal documents and procedures
  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex legal situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Active member in good standing with the Bar with no pending or prior disciplinary history

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Florida State Bar

Skills:
