A law firm in Miami is seeking a Criminal Defense Attorney with a strong commitment to advocating for clients facing criminal charges. The ideal candidate will be responsible for meeting with clients, interviewing witnesses, performing legal research, attending court hearings and trials, and providing exceptional representation. Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred, and felony experience is a must.

 

Duties:

  • Meet with potential clients to assess their cases and provide legal advice.
  • Interview witnesses to gather evidence and build defense strategies.
  • Perform comprehensive legal research to support case arguments.
  • Visit clients in custody to discuss their cases and gather necessary information.
  • Attend court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings to represent clients.
  • File motions and other legal documents with the court as necessary.
  • Examine crime scenes and gather additional evidence to support defense arguments.
  • Accrue expert witnesses to testify on behalf of clients in court.
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously while providing timely updates to clients.
  • Respond promptly to the urgent needs of clients, including emergencies.
  • Willingness to learn and practice family law and attend community service events.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with paralegals and other office staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior attorneys or partners.

 

Requirements:

  • Florida Bar licensed.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Great organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Graduated from a top 100 Law School desired.
  • Criminal Trial Board Certified desired.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably at the State Attorney or The Public Defender’s Office.
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Experience handling felony cases is a must.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Florida Bar license.
  • Criminal Trial Board Certification (desired).
