A law firm is seeking a Talent Counsel to join their team in Wheeling, WV. The Talent Counsel will be responsible for providing legal guidance and support to the firm on employment-related matters, ensuring compliance with US federal, state, and local laws. They will serve as a key resource for international employment issues and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to support legal compliance.

 

Duties:

  • Advise the firm on employment-related matters under US federal, state, and local laws.
  • Act as a point of contact for international employment issues.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting employment obligations and assist in policy creation and training.
  • Review and revise internal policies and procedures for legal compliance.
  • Develop and deliver training on employment law matters to team members.
  • Assist in drafting and negotiating employment-related documents.
  • Support the benefits team on compensation, benefits, leaves of absence, and immigration matters.
  • Assist with pre-litigation employment matters as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by firm leadership.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • 3-5 years of experience providing legal advice, preferably in employment law.
  • Strong understanding of US employment law, particularly in California and/or New York.
  • Ability to work independently and provide sound legal advice.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in US employment law.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide sound legal advice.

 

Experience:

3-5 years of experience providing legal advice, preferably in a corporate or professional services environment.
