Michael Lowman Joins Armstrong Teasdale to Establish Washington, D.C. Office

Armstrong Teasdale announces the addition of Partner Michael K. Lowman to the firm’s Litigation practice group. A skilled securities law attorney with nearly 30 years of experience, he has joined the firm to spearhead Armstrong Teasdale’s plans to establish a presence in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

“In the last three years, we’ve made tremendous strides in building out the firm’s East Coast presence,” said Partner and Leader – Eastern U.S. Richard Scheff. “Establishing an office in the nation’s capital is a natural progression of that growth. Decisions made here every day have a direct impact on our clients’ businesses, and I look forward to working with Michael to growing a team here.”

“Expanding our footprint to the nation’s capital aligns well with our aggressive growth goals to maintain our competitiveness in today’s legal market,” said Managing Partner Patrick Rasche. “Michael’s experience and background will enhance the firm’s already strong regulatory team. With a lawyer of his caliber working alongside Rich Scheff to build and grow a D.C. office, I’m confident this will further enhance our ability to serve our clients.”

Lowman joins a roster of more than 370 attorneys across Armstrong Teasdale’s 14 offices internationally. His practice focuses on counseling and representing domestic and global public companies, their officers and directors, and board committees. He has represented clients in matters involving a broad array of securities law issues, including domestic and international regulatory and internal investigations, 10A investigations, criminal parallel proceedings, SEC enforcement actions, civil litigation and securities law disclosure and compliance.

“Joining Armstrong Teasdale is the right step for continuing to provide the highest level of service to my clients,” Lowman said. “I look forward playing a role in furthering the firm’s growth and leading the charge to establish a D.C. office.”

On behalf of global international companies, audit committees and special litigation committees, Lowman conducts internal investigations into internal compliance violations, accounting issues and other areas of potential legal exposure. His experience counseling companies in securities law compliance includes federal securities law disclosure requirements, insider trading, whistleblower anti-retaliation requirements, internal controls requirements and anti-corruption issues. He also aids clients with implementing and improving business ethics and compliance programs.

Prior to joining Armstrong Teasdale, Lowman was a partner at a boutique litigation firm in Virginia and previously was partner in the Washington, D.C., office of a law firm with international reach. He served as Senior Counsel and Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel in the Enforcement Division of the SEC before entering private practice.
