Baker McKenzie strengthens Corporate/M&A practice in Munich

Baker McKenzie further expands its Corporate/M&A practice with Dr. Jakub Lorys as partner as of October 1, 2021. He joins Baker McKenzie's Munich office from Hengeler Mueller.

"With Jakub, we were able to gain a committed colleague with a widespread practice in the M&A/Corporate area. His broad transaction experience will be an excellent addition to the Corporate practice group, especially in the field of Private Equity. We warmly welcome Jakub to the team", comments Christian Atzler, Co-Head of the German Corporate practice group and Chair of the EMEA M&A practice group.

Jakub Lorys represents corporates, private equity funds and other financial investors in M&A transactions and buy-outs. He also advises companies and investors on capital markets law and all corporate law issues.

Most recently, Jakub Lorys advised ESG/Armira Private Equity on the sale of its ESG Mobility division to Cognizant Technology Solutions, Hapag-Lloyd on the acquisition of Dutch container shipping company NileDutch, TA Associates on the sale of a majority stake in thinkproject to EQT and Siemens on the sale of Flender to Carlyle.

Most recently, Baker McKenzie strengthened its Restructuring and Insolvency practice in December 2020 with Joachim Ponseck as partner and Prof. Dr. Artur Swierczok as counsel. In May 2020, Baker McKenzie expanded its Corporate/M&A practice with Manuel Metzner as counsel in the Corporate and Financial Regulatory area. In May 2019, Dr. Silke Gantzckow joined Baker McKenzie as notary and corporate partner. Prior to that, Ulrich Weidemann joined the firm as counsel in January 2019 and Dr. Patrick Mittmann joined as partner in September 2018. In October 2018, Baker McKenzie gained a team led by Berthold Hummel to expand the Munich office.
