Goodwin Continues West Coast Life Sciences Expansion with Partner Kristin Havranek

Global law firm Goodwin today announced that Kristin Havranek joined the firm’s Life Sciences practice as partner, resident in California.

“Our intellectual property practice plays a key role in advising innovative life sciences companies and investors throughout their corporate lifecycles,” said Mitchell Bloom, chair of Goodwin’s Life Sciences practice. “Kristin’s patent prosecution expertise adds meaningful depth to our offering for California’s vibrant medtech and medical device community. We are thrilled to welcome her to the firm as we further strengthen our integrated team of IP, licensing, regulatory, and corporate lawyers on the West Coast and globally.”

Havranek’s practice focuses on patent prosecution and technology counseling, with an emphasis on the medical device industry. She helps clients develop their intellectual property portfolios, and to conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and patent validity analyses. She also regularly prepares and prosecutes patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In addition to protecting intellectual property rights, Havranek counsels startups and investors on due diligence and financing, and advises clients on various aspects of licensing intellectual property.

Havranek is the fourth partner to join Goodwin’s Life Sciences practice in California this year, following the arrivals of Marianne Sarrazin, Can Cui and Steven Green.
