Carlton Fields Adds Two Health Care Attorneys in Tampa
Carlton Fields is pleased to announce the addition of two health care attorneys, J. Adam Greer and Jeremy C. Smith, in Tampa.
The two associates strengthen Carlton Fields' substantial Health Care Practice, whose scope of services includes compliance, administrative, regulatory, transactions, and litigation. The firm recently earned a national ranking for health care law in U.S. News – Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms” 2021.
Greer’s health care practice is informed by more than a decade of legal and operations experience at large and small health care companies. He is skilled in health care mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, negotiating and managing provider contracts, and compliance with health care regulations, including the Stark Law, also known as the physician self-referral law, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). He also has extensive experience working with physician practice groups, hospitals, and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). Most recently, Greer served as chief operating officer and chief administrative officer of an emergency medicine and hospital medicine management company. In that role, he oversaw contracting for independent contractor and employed clinicians, participated in due diligence and deal formation for acquisitions, negotiated client-hospital contracts, managed commercial payer contracting, and worked closely with external counsel on medical malpractice and employment law claims. He received his J.D. and MBA from the University of Memphis and his B.S. from Middle Tennessee State University.
Smith has experience in litigation, regulatory matters, and health care antitrust. Prior to joining Carlton Fields, Smith served as an assistant public defender and as an assistant state attorney in Florida’s Fifth Judicial Circuit, managing a large caseload and handling every aspect of litigation, including jury trials. He also has years of experience in health care IT consulting, which gave him an insider’s perspective that he brings to his practice representing health care clients. Smith earned his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law, his LL.M. in health law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and his B.S. from Missouri State University.
