Patent Attorney Sean Solberg Joins Fredrikson & Byron

Fredrikson & Byron continues growth in the Des Moines market with the addition of patent attorney Sean D. Solberg.

Solberg joins Fredrikson & Byron as a shareholder in the Patents, Intellectual Property and Life Sciences Groups. His practice focuses on patent prosecution and strategic patent portfolio management, IP due diligence in mergers and acquisitions, advising on infringement issues, technology agreements and licensing, and litigation.

Solberg works with businesses ranging from startups and universities to Fortune 500 companies to protect their technologies through patent prosecution, enforcement, and competitive patent analyses.  He brings expertise in a variety of life sciences industries, including medical device, biotech, and pharma, as well as in the agriculture sector.

Solberg’s experience extends to complex intellectual property litigation, working in conjunction with IP litigators.  He is a registered patent attorney licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

“Joining Fredrikson & Byron’s exceptional team of intellectual property and life sciences lawyers, and deep bench of technological expertise, is a natural fit for my practice and background. The firm’s reach allows me to continue to deliver value and sophisticated patent counsel across a variety of industries in the region and across the country,” Solberg shared.

“Sean’s background representing a wide variety of clients in the life sciences, agriculture and other industries is invaluable to our clients in establishing, managing and enforcing their intellectual property assets in the Midwest and beyond,” said Tom Hipkins, Chair of Fredrikson & Byron’s Patent Group. “We welcome Sean to our team in Des Moines and look forward to the added expertise we can draw upon for our clients.”
