Steptoe Continues Expansion of IP Group in New York with Patent Litigator Mike Eisenberg
Summary: Eisenberg, who holds dual degrees in physics, brings a strong patent and trade secrets litigation practice to the firm.
With more than 20 years of experience, Eisenberg has particular knowledge in patent, copyright and trade secret matters where technical issues rise to the forefront. Of those areas, Eisenberg focuses most of his time on patent litigation involving semiconductor devices, computer software and telecommunications. He has served, and continues to serve, as lead counsel on numerous litigations in district courts nationwide on behalf of patent owners and defendants. Eisenberg has also gained substantial experience as lead counsel on many post-grant US Patent and Trademark Office proceedings.
Steptoe Chair Phil West commented: "Mike's physics background provides a firm technical foundation to handle a broad swath of semiconductor, software, telecommunications and other electrical technologies. In particular, he has garnered a strong profile for cases relating to LED lights. His practice will greatly complement the services our IP group offers clients, and his concentration on Korean and Chinese clients will fit well with our IP group's Asia focus."
Steptoe's US and international Intellectual Property group enforces, protects, and develops the intellectual property rights and assets of clients in a wide range of industries. With lawyers and technology specialists in Beijing, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, the firm's patent litigation practice has been recognized by China Law & Practice, China Business Law Journal, Intellectual Asset Magazine (IAM), Chambers, and The Legal 500.
Eisenberg commented: "Steptoe is a firm which prioritizes IP and will provide me the resources to fully serve my clients whether it's at the US Patent and Trademark Office, the International Trade Commission, the Federal Circuit or in district courts. Plus, the firm's offices in Beijing and Hong Kong will provide an excellent platform to serve and expand my practice in Asia. With two trials on the horizon for this year, I am looking forward to hitting the ground running with my talented new colleagues."
Eisenberg earned his J.D., with highest honors, from The George Washington University where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. He received a master's of science degree in physics from Florida State University and his bachelor's degree, also in physics, from Washington University in St. Louis.
