Simpson Thacher Continues Growth with Two Latham Partners
Summary: Simpson Thacher & Bartlett added two Latham & Watkins partners to their team as the firm continues to grow.
Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP was able to pick up two Latham & Watkins partners rather quietly, according to Law.com. Eli Hunt will join as a partner in their M&A, energy, and infrastructure practices in New York. A few months ago, they also added David Greene to their investment funds group in Washington D.C.
Hunt had become a partner at Latham in 2010. He will focus his practice on public and private companies, including private equity funds and investors, joint ventures, reorganizations and M&A deals. His work while at Latham included several significant cases such as Siemens AG’s acquisition of Mentor Graphics Corp for $4.5 billion, BC Partners and Medina Capital’s joint purchase for $2.8 billion of CenturyLink Inc.’s data center and the sale of Safeway for $9 billion to an investor group.
Greene had been with Latham since he graduated from law school in 2005. He had recently been made partner in 2014. He actually joined Simpson Thacher in November, but there was no formal announcement of his addition by the firm. He focuses on private equity fund formation and representing fund sponsors and investors in the formation, operation, and investment of private funds and more.
Simpson Thacher has made other notable additions in recent months, including the addition of litigation partner Stephen Cutler from his in-house role with JPMorgan Chase & Co.
