Morrison & Foerster Welcomes Experienced Life Sciences Attorney
Leading global law firm Morrison & Foerster announced the addition of a highly experienced life sciences lawyer to their San Francisco office. Dr. Scott Carter will join the Life Sciences Group from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

Dr. Carter brings roughly 20 years of experience working with life sciences companies and investors in complex transactions involving development and commercialization in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostic and media device products.

Co-chair Janet Xiao of the firm’s global Life Sciences Group said, “Scott has advised on a variety of critical deals for premier international and domestic life sciences clients. Scott’s impressive background in negotiating complex intellectual property and commercial agreements will be an asset to our clients operating in this fast evolving market and we are delighted to add him to our team.”

The firm has been actively growing their San Francisco office. Last month they added a six-member team of IP litigators with Stefani Shanberg and Jennifer Schmidt at the reins. Morrison & Foerster also added four corporate partners last year – Sara Terheggen, Alex Kaufman, Dario Avram, and Patrick Huard. Joshua Hill Jr. joined the Securities Litigation, Enforcement, and White-Collar Defense Group.

Dr. Carter said, “I was drawn to Morrison & Foerster because of its highly impressive global life sciences platform, its destination technology transactions practice, and its outstanding reputation. I’m thrilled to join Morrison & Foerster’s team, and look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues in providing continued value to the firm’s life sciences clients.”

Dr. Carter is admitted to practice in California as well as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He received a Ph.D. in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology.
