Job Overview
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Partner-level Litigation Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will bring a portable book of business valued at a minimum of $200,000 and have a strong acumen for leadership. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex litigation cases from inception through trial, including working with clients across multiple industries. The successful candidate will be expected to lead cases, contribute to the firm's growing presence, and maintain a high standard of excellence in legal practice.

Duties

  • Manage complex litigation cases from inception through trial, including drafting pleadings, discovery motions, and dispositive motions.
  • Handle client intake, trial preparation, and all professional activities associated with case management.
  • Serve as first or second chair during trials, demonstrating leadership and expertise.
  • Develop case strategies, advise clients on risk mitigation, and suggest pre-suit resolution options.
  • Conduct research, interview clients and witnesses, and manage other case details.
  • Oversee the discovery process and supervise junior attorneys and staff on document review projects.
  • Perform complex legal research using tools like Westlaw.
  • Manage mediation and arbitration proceedings, including AAA cases.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8+ years of litigation experience in state and federal courts.
  • First or second chair trial experience is preferable.
  • Proven ability to handle litigation matters from inception through trial with minimal supervision.
  • Experience drafting complex pleadings and motions, as well as arguing discovery and dispositive motions.
  • Ability to develop and execute effective case strategies and advise clients on risk management.
  • Experience with mediation, arbitration, and other alternative dispute resolution methods is preferred.
  • Strong research skills, with experience using legal research tools such as Westlaw.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Tennessee.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Tennessee and in good standing.

Skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal court procedures and rules.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills for managing teams and cases.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion, particularly when handling sensitive matters.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
