Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated attorney with two years of experience to support its environmental and land use practice in Omaha, Nebraska. Responsibilities include regulatory compliance, permitting, litigation support, and client advisement on state and federal environmental matters.

Duties

  • Assist in drafting and reviewing environmental permits, licenses, and related applications.
  • Support litigation, including legal research, drafting motions, discovery management, and trial preparation.
  • Advise clients on compliance with the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, NEPA, and state environmental laws.
  • Collaborate with senior partners and multidisciplinary teams on land use planning, zoning issues, and development projects.
  • Conduct due diligence for real estate transactions, including Phase I and II environmental site assessments.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and draft client alerts and white papers on emerging environmental trends.

Requirements

  • Admission to the Nebraska Bar (or eligibility for admission).
  • 2 years of environmental and land use law experience at a law firm or in a government/regulatory setting.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a client-service mindset.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Bar admission mandatory.

Skills

  • Proficiency with Westlaw or LexisNexis for legal research.
  • Familiarity with regulatory databases and e-filing systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Analytical problem-solving and attention to detail.
