Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney

A San Jose, CA, law firm is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in workers' compensation defense, demonstrating a capacity to provide high-quality, cost-effective legal representation. This position requires someone in good standing with the California State Bar and possesses a strong legal acumen combined with excellent client service skills. Related insurance claims experience is a plus, and the role will require some travel.

Duties:

• Represent employers, insurers, and third-party administrators to defend workers' compensation claims.
• Handle all phases of litigation, including trials, depositions, mediations, and settlements.
• Develop defense strategies and evaluate claims to advise clients appropriately.
• Prepare and review discovery documents, pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles.
• Communicate regularly with clients, providing updates and strategic advice to manage their cases effectively.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to enhance client service and case management.
• Travel to various locations for trials, depositions, and client meetings as required.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with the California State Bar.
• 5-7 years of experience in workers' compensation defense.
• Proven track record of delivering cost-effective and high-quality legal representation.
• Solid legal knowledge with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently.
• Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Related insurance claims handling experience is beneficial.
• Willingness to travel as needed for case handling and client relations.

Education:

• Juris Doctorate (JD) required.

Certifications:

• Must be a licensed attorney in good standing with the California State Bar.
