Insurance Coverage Associate

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm is seeking a Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney with 3–5 years of relevant experience to join its Chicago office. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with clients on a broad spectrum of insurance coverage matters while gaining substantial litigation and counseling experience. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in various lines of insurance and have a solid understanding of contractual indemnity and competing "other insurance" clauses.

Location:

• Chicago, IL

Duties:

• Analyze and provide counsel on a wide range of insurance coverage matters

• Draft coverage opinions, position letters, pleadings, and other litigation documents

• Represent insurers in litigation, including errors and omissions, D&O, EPLI, fiduciary, construction defect, mass tort, environmental, life sciences, and bad faith cases

• Interpret contractual indemnity provisions and insurance clauses

• Manage and participate in client communications and strategy development

• Engage in hands-on litigation work, including depositions and motion practice

Requirements:

• 3–5 years of significant experience in insurance coverage law

• Prior litigation experience required

• Strong analytical and legal writing skills

• Admission to the Illinois State Bar (required)

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with a record of academic excellence

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in Illinois

Skills:

• Comprehensive understanding of insurance policies and related legal principles

• Proficiency in assessing risk and advising insurance industry clients

• Excellent communication and drafting skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

• Strong organizational and time-management capabilities
