Patent Agent

Job Overview: A law firm seeks a highly skilled Patent Agent to join their San Francisco, CA team. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting prior art searches, and staying abreast of the latest AI technology and patent laws.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications.
• Collaborate with inventors to understand new AI technologies and assess their patentability.
• Conducted and analyzed results of prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Maintain knowledge of the latest AI technology and patent laws.
• Liaise with clients to develop and manage patent portfolios.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Physics, or a related technical field involving AI/ML.
• Experience with AI models, neural networks, and deep learning.
• Experience with AI/ML theory, including backpropagation, regularization, and optimization.
• Proficiency in preprocessing data, selecting features, and training/tuning models.
• Domain experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, natural language processing, wireless communications, computer vision, or related AI fields preferred.
• Registered to practice with the USPTO.
• Active member and in good standing of CA Bar or eligible to waive into the appropriate Bar.
