A law firm seeks a Healthcare Data Privacy Associate Attorney to join its global Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Digital Assets Practice Group. The candidate will play a crucial role in advising clients on digital healthcare privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity matters. The position involves working closely with partners worldwide, leading projects, and providing legal counsel on compliance strategies, incident response, and defense against regulatory actions.

 

Duties:

  • Assisted and advised clients on digital healthcare privacy, data privacy, and cybersecurity matters.
  • Lead or assume significant responsibility for global compliance strategies related to privacy, data protection, and international data transfers.
  • Conduct compliance gap assessments and implement remediation plans.
  • Draft policies and procedures, including privacy policies, privacy statements, incident response plans, and vendor contracting templates.
  • Provide legal counsel on contract and M&A negotiations.
  • Assess compliance risks and priorities for clients and implement data protection compliance and information governance programs.
  • Utilize healthcare industry experience to address specific sector-related concerns.

 

Requirements:

  • J.D. degree or equivalent.
  • Admission to practice and in good standing in any U.S. state.
  • 4+ years of experience with significant knowledge of healthcare industry data privacy and security issues, including info blocking.
  • Incident response experience is desirable.
  • Digital healthcare and privacy experience are strongly preferred.

 

Certifications:

  • Certified Information Privacy Professionals are strongly preferred.
  • Desired certifications: CIPP-US, CIPP-EU, and CIPM.

 

Skills:

  • Working understanding of international, federal, state, and local privacy and security laws.
  • Familiarity with technologies supporting compliance.
  • Industry experience and/or expertise in drafting privacy and security policies for compliance with various regulations and guidelines.

 

Experience:

Should have 4+ years of experience with meaningful knowledge of healthcare industry data privacy and security issues (e.g., info blocking) to join the U.S. team of the leading global Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Digital Assets Practice.
