A law firm in Phoenix is seeking a Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of academic achievement, solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience, superb writing and communication skills, and a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering. Other engineering disciplines coupled with substantial patent experience with medical devices and/or mechanical products are acceptable. Admission to the USPTO is required.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct thorough patent searches and analysis of prior art.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to medical devices and mechanical engineering.
  • Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and legal teams to gather necessary information for patent filings.
  • Provide legal advice and opinions on patentability and infringement issues.
  • Manage and maintain an active patent docket, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Communicate with clients regarding patent matters and updates.
  • Assist with patent litigation support when necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is mandatory.
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Solid understanding of patent laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.

 

Certifications:
