Job Title: Trial Attorney 

Job Overview:
A Concord, CA-based law firm is seeking a dedicated Trial Attorney to represent property owners and housing providers in unlawful detainer proceedings in San Mateo County. This role is ideal for a litigation attorney who thrives in a courtroom setting and has a strong interest in real estate law. Candidates will engage in trial preparation, court appearances, and client consultations, working within a dynamic and high-paced legal environment. Duties:

• Represent property ownership entities in unlawful detainer litigation before state courts in San Mateo County

• Conduct all aspects of trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and prepping witnesses

• Deliver telephone-based legal guidance and risk assessments to clients regarding tenancy disputes

• Prepare, review, and revise various legal documents such as stipulations, notices, and settlement agreements

• Collaborate with in-house support teams on motion practice, pleadings, and case strategy

• Manage written discovery and deposition processes; draft and argue pre-trial motions

• Advise clients on broader landlord-tenant matters depending on caseload and bandwidth

Requirements:

• Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar

• Minimum of 1 year of courtroom trial experience

• Demonstrated proficiency in oral advocacy and litigation procedures

• Familiarity with the California Evidence Code and courtroom protocol

• Comfortable interacting with clients from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds

• Willingness to appear in court multiple days per week

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in California

Skills:

• Strong litigation and legal writing capabilities

• Effective communication and negotiation skills

• Detail-oriented with sound judgment under pressure

• Experience in housing law, landlord-tenant issues, or jury trials is a plus

Job Location:

• Court appearances are required in San Mateo County
