Job Overview:

The Immigration Attorney will be responsible for representing clients in Immigration Court, conducting client interviews, preparing clients for hearings, reviewing applications, and drafting motions and briefs as necessary. The position requires fluency in Spanish and strong bilingual communication skills.

Job Details:

  • Attend hearings in Immigration Court, including Individual Hearings
  • Handle client interviews at USCIS, ICE, and other agencies
  • Conduct jail visits
  • Prepare clients for hearings
  • Review applications
  • Communicate effectively with the client at any stage of the process
  • Draft motions and briefs as needed
  • Enter notes into a web-based case management system
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 2 years of Immigration or related legal experience preferred
  • Fluency in the Spanish language is preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Strong bilingual communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on teamwork
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar in Michigan or eligibility for admission by reciprocity

Skills:

  • Familiarity with immigration law and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
