A law firm in Seattle is seeking a Patent Agent with expertise in Chemistry to join its Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group, specifically the Patent Development and Strategy Subgroup. The ideal candidate should have experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications, particularly in chemical technologies, while also being capable of handling broader technologies in mechanical and light electrical engineering. Litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademark experience are preferred. The candidate must have a degree in chemical engineering or chemistry and be registered with the USPTO. Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in chemical technologies
  • Handle patent applications in broader technologies such as mechanical and light electrical engineering
  • Collaborate with attorneys to develop patent strategies and portfolios for clients
  • Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analyses
  • Provide technical expertise and advice on patent-related matters to clients
  • Assist with patent litigation, opinions, licensing, and due diligence projects
  • Manage and maintain patent dockets and deadlines
  • Stay updated on developments in patent law and regulations

 

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications
  • Experience in chemical technologies, with the ability to handle broader technologies in mechanical and light electrical engineering
  • Litigation, opinions, licensing, patent due diligence, and/or trademark experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or chemistry
  • Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

 

Education:
