The ideal candidate will be responsible for all aspects of patent practice with a particular focus on life sciences patent applications, freedom to operate, and due diligence analysis. Job Details:

Duties:

  • Preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the field of life sciences.
  • Conducting freedom to operate and IP due diligence search and analysis for licensing, acquisitions, and research and development projects.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and in-house counsel on intellectual property-related matters throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Liaising with clients, the USPTO, and foreign associates regarding patent application processes and strategies.
  • Advancement opportunities in a collegial environment.
  • Training with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across practice groups and offices.

Requirements:

  • Registered patent attorney.
  • Advanced degree and research experience in biological sciences.
  • 3-8 years of patent experience in life sciences.
  • Ph.D. in biological sciences (e.g., molecular or cell biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, organic chemistry, or biochemistry).
  • Superior academic record, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and keen attention to detail.
  • Prior law firm experience with patents in pharmaceutical and life sciences fields.
  • Current registration and good standing with the USPTO.
  • Leadership skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated interest in developing and implementing relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with a flexible approach.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong law school credentials and references.
