A law firm in Dallas is currently seeking an IP&T Patent Agent to join their dynamic Intellectual Property & Technology (IP&T) practice. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with partners, counsels, associates, and patent agents to assist clients in protecting their key inventions at the forefront of technology. The IP&T Patent Agent will play a vital role in the firm's IP&T practice, meeting with clients to discuss invention disclosures, formulating patent strategies, and handling ongoing prosecution matters. The position involves evaluating technology, preparing and prosecuting US and foreign patent applications, assisting with opinion writing, providing client counseling, offering litigation support, and delivering technical expertise for the practice.

 

Job Details:

  • Work collaboratively with partners, counsels, associates, and patent agents.
  • Meet with clients to discuss invention disclosures, patent strategy, and ongoing prosecution matters.
  • Evaluate technology and provide technical support for the practice
  • Prepare and prosecute US and foreign patent applications
  • Assist with opinion writing and provide client counseling
  • Offer litigation support as needed

 

Requirements:

  • Possess a strong educational background in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, or a closely related field
  • Must be registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office
  • 5+ years of experience independently preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the computing and/or electrical arts
  • Previous law firm or in-house experience is required
  • Bachelor’s degree (and preferably an advanced degree) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, or a closely related field
