Job Overview:

A prominent law firm located in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Associate to join its Structured Finance practice. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in sophisticated transactional work, focusing on derivatives and structured finance matters. Ideal candidates will have a solid foundation in ISDA documentation and be familiar with regulatory frameworks relevant to over-the-counter derivatives. The position supports hybrid work flexibility while maintaining a strong in-office team presence.

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, including Schedules, Credit Support Annexes, and Confirmations

  • Interpret and apply ISDA Dodd-Frank and other relevant regulatory protocols

  • Support complex financing structures and related transactional matters

  • Conduct legal research on structured finance and derivatives regulations

  • Collaborate with attorneys, business professionals, and clients to deliver high-quality work product

  • Manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and correspondence

  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and practice development

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in derivatives and structured finance

  • Prior experience in a large or highly regarded law firm

  • Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documentation involving ISDA protocols

  • Familiarity with industry regulations and transactional structures

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the State Bar of California

Skills:

  • Strong legal drafting and analytical capabilities

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Business-oriented judgment and practical problem-solving skills

  • Highly organized with excellent time management

  • Effective written and verbal communication

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Demonstrated leadership or mentoring abilities are a plus
