A law firm in St. Louis Park is actively seeking an IP&T Patent Agent to join their dynamic Intellectual Property and Technology (IP&T) practice. The successful candidate, with 5+ years of experience, will work collaboratively with partners, counsels, associates, and patent agents to assist clients in protecting their vital inventions on the forefront of technology. The IP&T Patent Agent will play a pivotal role in meeting with clients to discuss invention disclosures, patent strategy, and ongoing prosecution matters. This position requires a strong educational background in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, or a closely related field. The candidate should be registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office and possess previous law firm or in-house experience. The role involves independently preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the computing and/or electrical arts.

 

Job Details:

  • Work collaboratively with partners, counsels, associates, and patent agents.
  • Meet with clients to discuss invention disclosures, patent strategy, and ongoing prosecution matters.
  • Evaluate technology and provide technical support for the practice
  • Prepare and prosecute US and foreign patent applications
  • Assist with opinion writing and client counseling
  • Provide litigation support

 

Requirements:

  • Strong educational background in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, or a closely related field
  • Must be registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office
  • Previous law firm or in-house experience is required
  • Bachelor’s degree (and preferably an advanced degree) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, or a closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience of independently preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the computing and/or electrical art
