Job Title: Employment Litigation Associate Attorney
Job Overview: A well-regarded law firm based in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a skilled Employment Litigation Associate to join its litigation team. This role offers the opportunity to represent employers in complex workplace disputes and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will have experience handling employment-related claims, providing advisory services to corporate clients, and navigating administrative proceedings. This position is offered through a legal recruiting partner working on behalf of the hiring firm.
Duties:
Handle defense of employment-related litigation, including single-plaintiff and class/collective actions
Respond to charges and complaints from state and federal administrative agencies
Advocate on behalf of employers in court, arbitration, and mediation settings
Deliver training sessions and ongoing guidance to employers on labor and employment legal matters
Assist in drafting employment agreements, handbooks, and policy documents
Collaborate with internal teams on strategic planning and litigation management
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of legal experience, ideally with a focus on employment law or workplace litigation
Licensed to practice law in Michigan and good standing
Familiarity with state and federal agency protocols and administrative law procedures
Demonstrated litigation experience, including drafting pleadings, conducting depositions, and handling hearings
Professional presence and the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active bar membership in the State of Michigan
Skills:
Exceptional legal research and writing abilities
Strong verbal communication and negotiation skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software
