A law firm is seeking an Employment Law Attorney for its Spokane office. This position involves handling a variety of cases related to labor relations and individual rights in the workplace, representing clients in litigation, and providing legal advice to business clients. Below are the detailed job requirements and qualifications:

 

Job Overview:

  • Handle cases involving labor relations and individual rights in the workplace, including harassment, discrimination, and wrongful termination claims.
  • Litigate on behalf of workers in state and federal courts, the EEOC, and the HRC.
  • Represent Washington Education Association covered employees in matters involving school districts and the Office of Professional Practices.
  • Advise business clients on legal issues related to the employer-employee relationship.
  • Prepare and revise collective bargaining agreements, employment agreements, contracts, policies, and handbooks.
  • Create written content on employment law and present during educational seminars.
  • Possess substantial knowledge of state and local government employment-related procedures.

 

Duties:

  • Handle cases involving labor disputes and individual employment rights.
  • Represent clients in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies.
  • Advise business clients on employment law matters and draft relevant documents.
  • Prepare and present educational seminars on employment law topics.
  • Conduct legal research, writing, and analysis.
  • Negotiate and persuade others in legal matters.

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of litigation experience focused on representing employers and/or workers in labor disputes.
  • Previous judicial clerkship experience preferred.
  • Admitted to practice law in Washington state and federal courts.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Washington State Bar.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research methodologies.
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues.
  • Engaging communicator and presenter.
