Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Attorney in Washington, DC. This role involves working on complex civil rights cases, offering a mix of in-person and remote work. The attorney will join a team dedicated to advancing justice in challenging legal matters.

Duties

  • Develop and investigate cases from inception to resolution.
  • Draft pleadings and conduct discovery.
  • Engage in motions practice and prepare for mediation and trial.
  • Draft substantive briefs and take and defend depositions.
  • Argue motions in court and negotiate with opposing counsel.
  • Participate in trial proceedings when cases go to trial.

Requirements

  • 3 years of litigation experience, preferably in federal civil practice.
  • Exceptional analytical, research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Active membership in the State Bar of DC.
  • Clerkship or substantive civil rights litigation experience is a plus.
  • Experience with depositions, summary judgment, and/or trial is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the State Bar of DC.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and research abilities.
  • Excellent writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage complex legal issues independently.
